Under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic of Angola, H.E. Joao Lourenço, the General Inspection of the Administration of the State of the Republic of Angola is organizing the 9th General Assembly and 11th International Colloquium of the Forum of General Inspections of State and Related Institutions (FIGE) from October 22 to 25, 2024, at the Intercontinental Miramar Hotel in Luanda.
FIGE is a pan-African organization created in Djibouti in 2006, headquartered in Djibouti, bringing together 27 institutions from across the African continent. The organization aims to develop the professions of General Inspections of State, investigations, audits, anti-corruption efforts, and public evaluation, as well as the implementation of professional standards adapted to contemporary requirements of African states.This 2024 edition of the FIGE International Colloquium will focus on: "The Fight Against Corruption and Money Laundering: Investigation, Repression, and Cooperation."
Organized jointly with the 9th General Assembly of FIGE, the colloquium will highlight the central role of state general inspections in strengthening good governance practices. These practices— transparency and the efficiency of public action—are essential to the economic and social development of African countries. The discussions will lead to a broad reflection on the reforms to be implemented to strengthen the effectiveness of control institutions and share experiences in detection and prevention. The debates will thus contribute to strengthening the action capacities of member institutions.
High-ranking representatives from all institutions of FIGE member countries are expected, as well as representatives of African anti-corruption organizations and authorities, representatives of other FIGE partners, including the World Bank, the African Development Bank, the European Commission's Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), the University of Sorbonne, and international experts.
According to FIGE's Executive Secretary, Mr. Hassan Issa Sultan, General Inspector of State of the Republic of Djibouti: "The fight against corruption is a scourge that requires the mobilization of all actors at national and international levels. Our exchanges will help strengthen our expertise and the cooperation of actors involved in investigating and repressing criminal acts. The Luanda meetings will also be an opportunity to welcome new members from Lusophone countries into our pan-African organization."
